Louise Allcoat ( nee Miller) creates Artworks with intricate embellished surfaces.
In 1968, Fashion Editor Prudence Glyn featured Louise’s Central School of Art & Crafts, Post- Graduate collection of delicate hand woven and embroidered paper dresses in her article Youth the Creator in The Times Newspaper.
Louise’s Post Graduate collection was exhibited at the Crafts Centre of Great Britain and she created an individual embroidered paper hanging for the 1968 INPRINT Textile Council exhibition. Subsequently The Beatles commissioned Louise to design and produce an individual Bridal Dress collection for their Apple, Baker Street boutique window.
A 1969 Exhibition at the Border Gallery Carlisle showcased Louise’s Beatles commission alongside a collection of her shimmering evening garments created by layering and embroidering delicate ribbons onto silk organza. Both collections were featured in The Times Newspaper and in a Border Television documentary.
Louise has lectured in Fashion and Textiles at Higher and Further education levels at: Carlisle College of Art, Plymouth University Business School. And at Plymouth College of Art & Design as Course Leader on: BTEC National Diploma Fashion, BTEC Higher National Diploma Fashion and FDA Fashion Foundation Degree programmes.
Louise has acted as a Fashion Consultant for: WildCard Film & Television Productions: Dressing Up series, commissioned by West Country Television. As a Fashion Historian for West Country Television : Century series, and has provided Fashion Features input for BBC Radio Devon.
Louise has provided Photographic styling input for British designer Lisa Kensington Wright’s romantically beautiful, ELLE4LISA : EN GARDE FOR COUTURE Collection.
Louise’s Collection of Veiled Gaze Artworks and Limited Edition prints have enabled her to continue exploring, developing and creating intricately embellished images through the medium of drawing.
